Will Priyanka Gandhi be the new Congress Working President?

New Delhi: A change of address could soon be on the cards for the Indian National Party party.

Recently, party chairman, Sonia Gandhi suggested that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the new president to run.

On 8 August, towards the end of the Congressional Working Committee (CAQ), which examined the issue of the 75-year standing movement in India,

Ms. Gandhi quietly discussed the issue of changing guards with some senior leaders, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh – wondering aloud if Priyanka Gandhi should be appointed chairman and party work, DNA said.

The final decision on the future of the party must be made in about a month.

“It was not a matter of chance,” said a member of the CWC. “There was not much merit in this movement, if it occurs.

Mrs. Gandhi’s suggestion has received significant support from top management.

In recent years there has been strong demand within the party that Priyanka has a formal role.

The Gandhi family has repeatedly pronounced the problem. For its part, Priyanka was restricted, politically, to bastions of Amethi and Rae Gandhi Barelli family.

Sources present at the meeting shared with Zee Media Sonia told some that if the party wants to establish a credible performance in the upcoming elections of Lok Sabha, a young face must take control and management of party affairs, including strategy with Senior executives.

Chairman of the deputy party Rahul Gandhi – whom many consider to be the next president of Congress – did not attend the meeting because he is suffering from viral fever.

While Rahul’s elevation as party chairman, was subject to intense speculation in the party folds, many consider Priyanka to be the face of the party at the end of the general election in 2019 could rejuvenate struggles.

“We want to admit it or not, the truth is that the Gandhi family is the glue that joins the party.

Even when a family member was not at the forefront, such as when PV Narasimha Rao was the prime minister or when Sitaram Kesari was party chairman, the shadow of the family was always very well.

Despite attempts to denigrate the family name, there is no doubt that the Gandhi have a link with voters in large parts of the country, “said a former congressman and former minister.

Since 2014, when Narendra Modi led the BJP to a spectacular victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has witnessed a steady departure from several prominent state-level leaders.

Many in the party also suggests that due to the lack of an effective game plan to counter Modi Juggernaut is the clear division between the thought process of the Rahul team and the old guard represented by Ahmed Patel, Ghulam Nabi several state and satraces Azad.

Although some who did not have much support in the party and even among ordinary voters talked about looking beyond the Nehru-Gandhi family to revive the party, this line of thought found no traction in Congress.
